Celebration
is a large part of believers life.
We each have this one thing in common, that we have salvation
because of Jesus.
Celebration is something we do, despite the circumstances in our lives.
Our
celebration
is not a fake pretending that everything is wonderful.
We all go hard times in life, but we know that we have the love
of the eternal God and he has saved us from sin and he is continually
with us, helping us. Our
celebration is looking at the fact that God is eternal and we should be
focusing our mind on his good, eternal things.
The bible tells us in Philippians 4:4-5;
“Celebrate
God all day, every day. I mean, revel in him! Make it as clear as you
can to all you meet that you're on their side, working with them and not
against them. Help them see that the Master is about to arrive. He could
show up any minute!” (The
Message)
Then later on it says;
8-9
“Summing
it all up, friends, I'd say you'll do best by filling your minds and
meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling,
gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to
praise, not things to curse. Put into practice what you learned from me,
what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes
everything work together, will work you into his most excellent
harmonies.” (The Message)
Celebrate Everyday
Celebrating
God should be a part of our everyday life.
Not only does
celebrating
help us, it enables God’s purpose for community.
Colossians 3:15-17 say:
15-17
“Let
the peace of Christ keep you in tune with each other, in step with each
other. None of this going off and doing your own thing. And cultivate
thankfulness. Let the Word of Christ—the Message—have the run of the
house. Give it plenty of room in your lives. Instruct and direct one
another using good common sense. And sing, sing your hearts out to God!
Let every detail in your lives—words, actions, whatever—be done in the
name of the Master, Jesus, thanking God the Father every step of the
way.”
The opportunity for
celebration
is in everything we do,
by being in community with each other, by singing to God, by our
everyday actions. We should sing our hearts out to God.
We
celebrate,
not by being fake and pretending our lives are perfect. No, we
celebrate
by focusing on God and finding joy in him.
We can
celebrate
God for all that he is, even when we are imperfect.
We see that
celebration
is for our benefit.
So
celebrate
God all day, everyday.
