We, as being church, a community of Christ are a part of God in reaching out to our world.  God doesn’t want us to just talk about Christ’s love.  He also wants us to demonstrate it in our everyday lives.  James 2:14-17 says

Dear friends, do you think you'll get anywhere in this if you learn all the right words but never do anything? Does merely talking about faith indicate that a person really has it? For instance, you come upon an old friend dressed in rags and half-starved and say, "Good morning, friend! Be clothed in Christ! Be filled with the Holy Spirit!" and walk off without providing so much as a coat or a cup of soup—where does that get you? Isn't it obvious that God-talk without God-acts is outrageous nonsense?”

We see that our actions reveal our faith.  Our faith is demonstrated through our actions.  This is our desire as a church,  to find ways to demonstrate our faith.  We want to provide opportunities to do that.

We have different ways we are trying to be God’s hands to our community.  We have an afterschool program, KidCare America, that helps tutor and mentor elementary age children.  Volunteers  take time during the week to help students with school work and help be a good influence on their lives.  We have started this at Shaner Elementary, which is close to the church building.  We  have also been a part of helping Shaner get ready for school, by fixing and cleaning their facilities.  We have opportunities to give to students through our school supplies drive and help students stay warm in winter by donating coats.  During Christmas, we have opportunities to be involved in helping families at Shaner, by supplying food gift cards and presents for children who need them.  We desire to live out these God-acts, not just at these opportunities, but in our everyday lives.   Just as Christ has loved us, we must show that same love to each other.  What an opportunity we have in sharing Jesus’ love with our community.
